Yes, my last name means ‘star’, it’s fitting. No, I was not named after a Scooby-Doo character.

A little bit about me
I am a first-generation Mexican-American. My parents, the two strongest and most influential people in my life have sacrificed everything to provide me with the opportunity to be who I want to be. However, my story is not about hardship or adversity. It is about persisting through each setback, ready and willing to make the sacrifices necessary for a dream and the people I love. My dream is to be the first in my family that gets to pursue something I’m passionate about.

In high school, I took a Drawing for Fashion course and completed a research project on Alexander McQueen. From that point, my interest in fashion took on a life of its own and that same year I decided to apply to VCU’s fashion program.

Years and years ago, I started running. It quickly became an important part of my life and I even qualified for Cross Country states championships my senior year of highschool!

This is a dress a friend and I once started working on for a competition in high school. The bottom half is a trash bag with attached flowers made of old book pages.

I had the privilege of serving on the Operations Committee for VCU’s 2023 fashion event, access. It was one of the most exciting projects I’ve worked on and I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity to have been part of such a strong team.

I love coffee. That’s it. That’s the fun fact. Black coffee is my go-to, but a latte makes for a cute picture!
I recently completed my undergraduate degree in fashion merchandising. Now, I have taken on the magical world of graduate school to pursue a master’s in marketing management. I’m a big believer in experiences, and a wide range of them gives me the power to do whatever I want! So, with copious amounts of education, job experiences, and interests, I look forward to the endless opportunities that lie ahead!
